- Joanna was born on March 20, 1989, in Royal Leamington Spa in the UK but was raised in Caracas in Venezuela.
- Her parents are the Harvard University Economics Professor Ricardo Hausmann (father), and her mother is the journalist Ana Julia Jatar.
- Education : She attended the Caracas American International School, as her parents wanted her to have an English education as well as receive an international experience. She graduated from there in 2007.
