- मोर हा खूप सुंदर पक्षी आहे. हा भारताचा राष्ट्रीय पक्षी आहे आणि भारतातील बहुतेक भागांमध्ये आढळून येतो.
- मोर चमकदार हिरवट-निळ्या रंगाचे असतात. त्यांना लांब अशी सुंदर मान असते. त्यांच्या लांब पिसांवर चंद्रासारखे ठिपके असतात. ते हिरव्या, निळ्या, पिवळ्या आणि सोनेरी रंगछटांचे असतात. त्यांना लांब पाय आणि तुरा असतो. त्यांची मान गडद निळ्या रंगाची असते.
- तो खूप डौलदार असतो आणि साथीदाराला आकर्षित करण्यासाठी पावसामध्ये नृत्य करतो. जेव्हा मोर त्याचा पिसारा फुलवतो, तेव्हा पिसारा एखाद्या मोठ्या रंगीबेरंगी पंख्यासारखा दिसतो.
- मोर मुख्यतः धान्याचे दाणे आणि कीटक यांवर जगतात. मोराच्या मादीला लांडोर म्हणतात. लांडोर आकर्षक दिसत नही. ती आकाराने लहान असते. ती एक तपकिरी रंगाचा पक्षी असते. तिच्याकडे रंगीबेरंगी पिसे नसतात. तिचे पायही ओबडधोबड आणि कुरूप असतात.
- सोनेरी मोर बर्मा, आसाम आणि ईशान्येकडील इतर राज्यामध्ये आढळतात.
- प्राचीनकालापासून, मोराने त्याच्या सौंदर्याने आणि तोऱ्याने कवींचे, सम्राटांचे आणि योद्धांचे चित्त आकर्षित केले आहे. हिंदू पुराणांमध्ये बऱ्याच ठिकाणी मोराचा संदर्भ आढळतो.
