Introduction :

Maureen Nolan was part of the popular Irish family girl group called The Nolan Sisters formed in 1974. Their hit single “I’m in the Mood for Dancing,” released in December 1979 made them chart-toppers in the UK and Japan.
The members for the group constantly changed over the years, but Maureen never left until 2005 when the group was officially disbanded.

Personal Life, Parents and Family Details :

Maureen Nolan was born on June 14, 1954, in Dublin, Ireland. She was the fourth child of her parents, Tommy and Maureen Nolan. They had a total of eight children.
The family moved to Blackpool in search of work in 1962 and started a family singing group called “The Singing Nolans” which included every family member except the youngest, Coleen Nolan.

The family finally relocated in early 1974 to London when interest was shown in their music.
Maureen never had a normal upbringing. The family was performing almost every night, and the kids would still be sent to school in the morning.

Marriage and Relationships :

Maureen dated her husband Ritchie for over 20 years before marrying him in 2010. The ceremony took place in La Envia, Almeria in Spain and was paid for by OK! Magazine.
They have a son, Danny and three grandchildren named Ava, Sienna and Roma.
In 2016, in an episode of Loose Women, Maureen spoke about how her marriage with Ritchie was failing and that they were more like friends than anything else.

Maureen was a part of The Nolan Sisters right from inception to its disbandment in 2005 for 31 consecutive years!
The group broke into the charts by their disco-flavoured single, “In the Mood for Dancing.” It reached number 3 in the UK, number 2 in Ireland and number 1 in Japan. Hitting the top spot in Japan was a rare event for any western act.

In 1991, The Nolan Sisters became the first Irish group to be awarded at the 33rd Japan Record Awards.
Maureen started her acting career and bagged the role of Mrs Johnstone in the musical Blood Brothers.
She has also performed in productions of the comedy Mum’s the Word and has toured with her sister Bernie in 2008.

The talented singer has toured the UK playing Sadie in the comedy musical ‘Girl’s Behind,’ Jill in ‘Mum’s The Word,’ as Vi in ‘Footloose’ and Sarah in the hit stage play ‘The Naked Truth’.
Maureen has also appeared in ‘Stardust – A musical flashback in time’ in 2007 and ‘The Eva Cassidy Story- Over the Rainbow’ in 2011.
The “Nolans” came together with varied members a few times after disbandment for one-off events. Maureen was included in every reunion.

Fun Facts, Height and Trivia :

After decades of being exposed to loudspeakers, Maureen has been left with 50% hearing in her right ear. She now wears a hearing aid.
Maureen learned how to pole dance when playing the role of Sarah in The Naked Truth.

She’s a fan of running as a way to exercise and tries to run in short spurts whenever and wherever she can.
In 2018, at age 64, Maureen decided to go under the knife for a facelift worth £7,500.

I’m a fan of the Nolan sisters, Bernie had the best vocals very powerful. I’ve still got I’m in the mood for dancing wen I was younger I wished I looked like Maureen and my husband has always fancied Linda. I wish Linda all the best…there is breast cancer in our family from generations till now I bet that bernie is singing I’m in the mood for dancing in heaven and that all the angels are singing and dancing with her.

I first heard about The Nolans when going to school when I was a young lad. I’ve been a Nolan fan most of my life now. I love the Nolan sisters and I’m going to meet them someday. My favourite is Linda with her lovely blonde hair. I am planning My trip to The SEC Carnival on 24/12/2022. I love the carnival…it makes me feel young inside. I am now 61 years old but still a little kid.
