Personal Life, Parents and Family Details :
- Patricio Castilla was born in Santiago, Chile. His father emigrated from Spain to Chile in the wake of the Spanish Civil War, and he owned three movie theatres in Santiago. After Patricio’s father died when Patricio was still young, his mother, a lawyer, took over the ownership of one of the movie theatres and continued the family legacy.
- Patricio has one brother, the celebrated Chilean film director Sergio M. Castilla.
- In 1979, Patricio met the woman who would become his wife, the actress Geraldine Chaplin, on a movie set. It quickly became apparent that Patricio meant to dedicate his whole life to being with Geraldine, and the two have been together since.
- Patricio and Geraldine were officially married on the 18th of August, 2006.
- He has a daughter with Geraldine, Oona Castilla Chaplin, born on June 4, 1986. He is also the stepfather of Shane Saura Chaplin, the son Geraldine Chaplin had from her previous relationship to Spanish film director Carlos Saura

Career, Income, Salary and Net Worth :
- Patricio started his career as a cinematographer with the documentary Mijita, which his brother Sergio directed in 1970. The documentary focused on the plight of women living in the surroundings of Santiago de Chile. The work featured music made by Violeta Parra, a Chilean composer.
- He continued to work on his brother’s movies, such as De Försvunna/Prisionero desaparecido (Missing prisoner, 1979), a Swedish-Cuban production featuring an insight into three days at one of Chilean dictator Pinochet’s torture centres. He was also the cinematographer for Miguel Littin’s movie La Viuda de Montiel (Montiel’s Widow) in 1979, where he met Geraldine Chaplin.
- After that, Patricio paused his career to travel the world supporting Geraldine’s endeavours, but he wrote and directed his own documentary in 1988, entitled Nombre de Guerra: Miguel Henríquez (Code name: Miguel Henríquez).
- In 1990, Patricio returned to being the director of cinematography for one of his brother’s projects: the critically acclaimed Gentile Alouette, starring Geraldine Chaplin, Héctor Alterio, and John Leguizamo.
- In 1991, he produced, wrote, and directed the short film Y aquí no pasó nada (And nothing happened here).
- In 2016, Patricio also produced, wrote, and directed the documentary short Street Name ‘Pirate.’

- Through his mother, Hilda Valderrama, Patricio is descended from the mapuche, the indigenous population of Southcentral Chile.

In February 1973, Patricio Castilla travels to Cuba to end the film « La Tierra Prometida» by Miguel Littin. He he is the Director of Photographie with Alfonso Beato, the film was ended in July and he goes to Stockholm to help the ending of « « Missing Prisoner» . In September the Pinochet Coup d’Etat hapens in Chile a Patricio goes back to Cuba after asking for political asylum. Works as Director of Phographie in different films an documentarys lives in the island until he mets Geraldine Chaplin in May 1979 as director of photographie of « The Montiel Widow ». In 1996 Patricio publish short stories « Things Happen », LOM editorial. Geraldie an Patricio they go back to the island several times as they have and are very good friends with Cuba.
I and my wife are very lucky and grateful to be close neighbours and friends with Pato and Geraldine in Miami Beach. In short, I would describe them as very simple, down to earth, very kind, very funny, respecting other peoples humor, very talented and great looking couple. ❤️❤️❤️
