Marissa was born and raised in Toronto, Canada.
For many years, she had a pet dog, a Chorkie named Saffy. On September 8, 2023, Saffy, who had been Marissa’s cherished companion and adventurer, passed away. Saffy had battled a neurological disease for many years. In a heart-felt Instagram post, Marissa fondly remembered Saffy’s unique qualities and the joy she brought into their lives.

Marissa’s career as an actress and writer began in the late 90s when she landed a part in the movie Electric Playground.
Since then, she has appeared in Heads Up Daily and Adventures of an Urban Gardening Nerd.

After university, she took a job as an intern at TSN and quickly earned an opportunity to edit stories for the company before leaving in 2010.
Marissa then joined GameFocus.ca as a Contributing Editor and worked for a little over one year before leaving in December of 2011. During her time at GameFocus, Marissa also worked for TLN Telelatino as a camera operator.
