- Jonathan Hillstrand (or John as he is usually referred to) is a commercial, licensed fisherman and a ship captain, from the United States of America. He is most famous for his starring role on the Discovery Channel’s reality show The Deadliest Catch.

- Jonathan Hillstrand Junior was born on August 5, 1955, in Homer, Alaska.
- He is the second oldest of five sons born into a second-generation crab fishing family.
- Hillstrand married his first wife (who likes to remain anonymous) before he found his fame, and they have two sons from the relationship.
- John still lives in his hometown of Homer in Alaska, with his second wife, Heather Hamilton, whom he married in 2017 after a long courtship.
