Early Life and Education Background :
- Amanda’s desire for being involved in journalism began when she went for a high school trip to Washington D.C. She soon developed the desire to keep up with current events and politics.
- After high school, Amanda enrolled at Colgate University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
- Her main reason for joining this University was because of the power of the Washington D.C.’s Study Group. At university, she was a part of the College Democrats & the Student Government Association.
Profession, Salary, Net worth and Career :
- Before she started working for HuffPost, Amanda was working as the Deputy Research Director at the Center for American Progress and the Managing Editor at ThinkProgress.
- While working at ThinkProgress, she played a major role in guiding the site from a non-profit blog to an award-winning liberal site that drove the discussions for the day.
- The site also started to create its spot on the National Political scene, with their main focus mainly being rapid-response research, analyzing and reporting.
- Terkel’s journalism journey has, however, not been an easy one & she is quick to mention that she admires the women who are still there and is thankful for them for creating a way for her.

Bill O’ Reilly incident :
- On Saturday, March 21, 2009, Amanda Terkel while on vacation in Winchester, VA, was allegedly followed and harassed by Bill O’Reilly’s producer, Jesse Watters who told her that she is causing pain and suffering to the rape victims & their families.
- Jesse also wanted Amanda to look into his camera and apologize to Alexa Foundation and to the rape victims, but she declined saying that she does not talk to Fox News and if someone from the foundation needed to talk to her they should contact her.
- The O’Reilly incident is the one in which he made a comment about the women who are rape victims. In his comment he stated that women who dress in a certain way or who consume too much alcohol should expect to be raped.
- Amanda’s re-visit to this case was prompted by the fact that Bill O’Reilly had been chosen to speak at the Alexa Foundation.
- She posted saying that it was ironical that Bill O’Reilly would be speaking at Alexa Foundation’s gig, an organization that supports the rights of sexual violence victims considering his previous remarks in rape incidents.
