The neighbours, together with Stanton Parish Council and retired High Court judge Sir Richard Tucker were opposing this move as they claimed that it would block out light from reaching their area. The retired High Court judge, who was their neighbour, also claimed that a window that would be overlooking his garden would be an intrusion of his privacy. The move was given the go-ahead by the council in Gloucestershire after they ascertained that the effect would be minimal. Lance and his wife had bought the house in 2007.
