Introduction :
Stephen Paddock was an American citizen from the state of Nevada. He was the primary accused in the October 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas. Around 58 people were pronounced dead & 500+ people were injured on this day, making it one of the ghastliest shootings in American History.
Stephen Paddock Family and Personal Details :
- Stephen was a licensed pilot, but his license had expired because of a failed medical test.
- His family included his brother Eric Paddock & his 90-year-old mother. His brother expressed shock & surprise as to why Stephen might have done this, as he had no prior history of being a gun-lover.
- As per early reports, Stephen lived in a Nevada retirement community with Marilou Danley – his girlfriend. She was out of the country during the day of the shooting.
- Stephen had no children.
Incident :
- Paddock started firing from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel. He fired at the Route 91 Country Music festival, specifically targeting concertgoers.
- He used a hammer to break the hotel’s windows & fired incessantly, possibly using fast-firing automatic weapons.
- Before the police & authorities could enter the hotel, he was found dead in a hotel room. The police authorities found a large number of rifles in his room.
