Marla Wynne Ginsburg is an American fashion designer and entrepreneur. She used to be a high-ranking television executive based in Paris, but reinvented herself to be a businesswoman in 2009.
Personal Life : Parents, Family and Education
- Marla Wynne Ginsburg was born in 1956 in Denver, Colorado.
- Marla was raised in Colorado, where she attended Cherry Creek High School in her hometown of Denver. She finished high school in 1974.
- After her graduation from high school, Marla relocated to St Louis, Missouri, where she attended Washington University from 1974 to 1978. She achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature.
- She then spent almost two decades living in Paris, France.
- Marla’s two children were born in Paris. She has a daughter, Sydney Claire Baran, and a son, Jason Baran.
- After seventeen years in Paris, Marla relocated to Los Angeles in 2003 but she found herself severely affected by the 2007 writer’s strike. At that point, she taught herself how to sew and started designing fashion for women like her.
- Marla then moved to Montreal with her family, and then also to New York City, where she continues to reside nowadays. She is divorced.

- After moving to Paris, France, Marla started working for Gaumont International Television LLC. In 1991, she became the Head of International Television at Gaumont, a position she held until 1999. In this role, she was responsible for the division’s entire strategic and financing planning. She also supervised recruitment, sales, and distribution. While at Gaumont, Marla was involved in producing some of the most popular TV shows of the 90s such as The Highlander (1992-1998) and La Femme Nikita (1997-2001).
- In 1999, Wynne co-founded Vertikal Entertainment with Jan Korbelin (formerly the head of German TV channel ProSieben), a consulting company focusing on entertainment and media. Some of their clients included the BBC, as well as the French companies Canal +, BBDO, and M6.
- Once she relocated to Los Angeles, Marla worked as an executive producer for Touchstone Television from September 2004 until December 2006.
- Marla was then the owner of Waterwalk Television and Media Consulting from 2007 to 2009.
- At the same time, she started her first fashion collection, Boombacouture.
- From 2009 to 2011, Marla was the creative director and brand ambassador of FDJ French Dressing.
- Since June 2010, Marla has been the CEO of MarlaWynne Collection and Wynne Layers, which was launched in 2009. This fashion brand is focused on women over forty years old and sells exclusively on retail channels such as HSN, QVC, and TSC.
- The business has grown considerably since its launch. Around 2012, their total sales were around $2 million. Just five years later, the business had grown to make in excess of $27 million in sales.
- In 2021, Marla was acknowledged in the prestigous Forbes’ 50 Over 50 list.

- Marla had never sewn before she bought her first sewing machine in 2009 in order to change the entire course of her career.
- Marla’s son Jason was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s disease in 2012 but has since been in full remission.
- She is very close to her children and has worked alongside her daughter Sydney on various endeavors for MarlaWynne Collection. Sydney joined Marla’s business in 2011.

I bought two of Marla Wynne’s chenille cardigans…one sage green, the other in black. I absolutely love these lightweight fashionable swesters! I usually wear a medium/large in HSN fashion, but got the small in these, and the fit is great. They are a loose fit style and fit great!
I love all your pieces! Sometimes I do have to wait to buy some pieces but if you ever need a short medium-sized 70year old model from the DMV area, please think of me. I do wear M in all of your clothing and I love every piece. Continue the good designs.
