Introduction :
Luke Rodgers is a professional football player, known for playing at an international level.
Luke John Rodgers Brother and Family :
- Luke John Rodgers was born on 1st January 1982 in Birmingham, England.
- He was born into a middle-class family and showed talent in sport from a young age.
- He was encouraged by his family to pursue a trade such as carpentry, as they did not believe he would be able to make a career in football.
- He did, however, and after his success allowed him to play at an international level, he returned to the UK to play for Portsmouth and then Shrewsbury Town.
- He signed to the National League club Solihull Moors in 2016 and is their lead striker.
Luke Rodgers Football Career :
- After achieving local success as a striker from a young age, Luke was invited to join the New York Red Bulls in January of 2011.
- The club spent large amounts of money advertising him to their fans, and due to his feisty nature (which comes across in his style of play) he became a fan favourite.
- On 30 March 2012, his was forced to end his contract as the club had been unable to secure a more permanent visa for him. It was rumoured this was due to past legal issues, but that was never confirmed.
- He left the United States for Sweden & signed a contract with the Tippeliggen club Lillestrom SK.
- He stayed with them until the end of the 2012 season. Although he was offered a role with them for the 2013 season, he chose to leave as he stated they did not feel like the right fit for him.
Height of Legal Issues :
- In April of 2003, Rodgers was ordered to perform 100 hours of community service and pay a $5000-pound compensation amount, following an accident in which he had set fireworks off that accidentally hit a 16-year-old girl in the face.
- Rodgers expressed sorrow over the accident, and the Warwick Crown Court warned him to be more careful in the future.
- He received an adult caution in April of 2009, also known as a move-along order, by the Somerset Police Force.
- He was also arrested and bailed on 1st October 2009 following a disturbance caused by Rodgers while out drinking with friends in the Nottingham City Centre.
Interesting Facts and Social Media :
- He once told a journalist that the sale of his merchandise in the local store had set new records
- Later, the Red Bulls HR team confirmed that he had actually embellished the story and it had not broken records.
- Not as active on social media as others in his profession, he uses Instagram and Twitter (now called X) accounts which he updates occasionally. His handle is @thelukerodgers, and as of 2021, he has 16,000+ followers on Twitter (now called X), and over 25,000 followers on Instagram.
