Kate McCann (maiden name Kate Marie Healy) is the mother of the young girl Madeleine McCann, who was abducted in Portugal in 2007.
Since her daughter’s disappearance, Kate has at various times been the focus of media attention, including extensive speculation as to her and her husband Gerry’s involvement in Madeleine’s kidnapping.

They were later cleared of suspicion, and the extensive issues with the media coverage of the parents resulted in several legal cases and proposed legal changes.
