- Grant Reynolds was born on May 1, 1988, in Lake Placid, New York. His mother is Christine Reynolds, a retired nurse.
- Grant has an elder sister, Emily Reynolds Bergh. Through his sister, he is the uncle of two nieces and two nephews, with another on the way in 2020.
- He grew up in his home on Hillcrest Avenue in Lake Placid.
- Grant attended the Lake Placid High School.
- During high school, Grant spent a year in Piemonte, Italy, as an exchange student. His time there introduced him to the art of winemaking.

- Grant started working in the restaurant industry with his first summer job at the age of 13 at a Lake Placid ice cream parlor. He also worked peeling garlic and seeding tomatoes at Italian restaurant Villa Vespa, followed by internships at Mr. Mike’s Pizza and the Lake Placid Lodge.
- While studying in Boulder, Colorado, Grant worked at Frasca Food & Wine, where he trained under prestigious sommelier Bobby Stuckey.
- After finishing his stint in Colorado, Grant went to work the harvest at the Domaine Dujac in Burgundy, France.
- He then spent some months working for the internationally renowned Noma restaurant in Copenhagen, Denmark.

- Grant joined forces with his high school best friend, Artur Novoselsky, to create the Hillcrest Fund. Hillcrest Fund is a scholarship fund for Lake Placid High School students who wish to study in creative fields.
- On account of his contributions, Grant was asked to speak at the high school graduation of the Lake Placid High School in June 2019.
- In 2012, he passed the Advanced Sommelier exam at the age of twenty-four, which made him the youngest person to pass the test!
