Introduction :
Grace Loncar was the daughter of famed attorney Brian Loncar, who unfortunately committed suicide in November 2016.
Personal Life, Parents and Family Details :
- At the time of her death, Grace Caroline Loncar was a 16-year-old junior student at Booker T. Washington High School, School of Visual and Performing Arts.
- She used to live with her parents in Dallas, Texas. The daughter of artistic director Sue Loncar and attorney Brian Loncar, she also was a sister to her many siblings – brothers David and Patrick & her sisters Sally, Hailey, and Abby.
- An aspiring actress, she mostly used to perform at her mother’s theater – The Contemporary Theater of Dallas. In her freshman year, Grace won the ‘Best Play’ and ‘Best Actress’ awards for a role she played.
- A talented young lady with a good spirit, Grace was a go-getter with a big heart for people and could sing beautifully. Those close to her knew her for being quite skilled at winning money through card games.
- Grace was also known to give big tips to Uber drivers who shared with her, their exciting personal stories and her.
- Her favorite holidays were Halloween and Christmas. For Halloween, she always had intricate costumes & visited haunted houses in the company of her friends. For Christmas, she organized her family’s Secret Santa gift exchange & would shop for at least ten gifts for every family member.
- Grace loved spending her time in the house, in her room, with her cat Tux & loved strawberries, sushi, and the color pink.
Her Struggle and Death :
- When Grace was 11 years old, she was diagnosed with depression after she tried taking her own life and had been struggling with the condition since then.
- Grace often told her parents that she does not feel any love for anyone not even herself & did not feel pretty, that she felt like she had no friends & she does not feel quite talented; all these were issues were slowly taking a toll on her.
- On the night before her demise, Grace’s parents had grounded her on the basis that they felt like she was not putting the effort into her school work & even took away her phone, after realizing she was smoking marijun*na.
- Reacting to this punishment, Grace got extremely furious and defensive and as it was to be, she took her life with a gun that belonged to her father, committing suicide in November 2016. She was laid to rest on December 2nd, 2016 at the Sparkman Hillcrest Cemetery.
- Looking through her Twitter (now called X) account, Grace had been writing on issues of mental illness, sex, drugs, and death; suicide in a humorous tone.
Post-Death Events :
- In 2017, The Grace Loncar Foundation was founded to raise awareness of depression issues, providing a safe haven for those dealing with depression and helping families struggling with depression.
- The death of his youngest daughter hit Brian very hard, two days after burying her daughter, he too was found dead in his car that was parked outside his office & after a week mourners were again converged to bid their final farewell.
- Brian, then 56 years old, too had been struggling with various issues – alcoholism, bipolar disorder, and depression.
