Although she is mostly known for being a younger sister of Yami Gautam, she has made her own identity with sheer hard work. Her biggest lead role was in Meet Mila De Rabba on the Sony channel.

Personal Life :

Surilie was born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh to a popular director, Mukesh Gautam. Her career started when she was in XII class, but she balanced her career with studies. In fact, she brought at least two books to the set every day. She took permission from her school, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-16, Chandigarh to pursue her acting ambitions.

Her parents supported her wholeheartedly. Her role model is no wonder, her sister. She has followed Yami’s steps by steps by getting into law and now acting. She is also her biggest cheerleader. For other actresses, the Western Cine Employees strike in 2015 was a problem but not for her. She found it a blessing in disguise as she got to spend time with her family.

During the shoot of Power Cut, Surilie fell in love with Jasraj Bhatti, the lead actor. They kept their affair under wraps for some time. Their relationship came to light when they decided to marry. According to Savita Bhatti, the marriage happened with the consent of Jaspal Bhatti who accepted Surilie as his daughter-in-law when he was alive. Their engagement happened before the release of their movie and marriage was slated afterwards.

But the tragic death of Jaspal Bhatti in an accident delayed the marriage. Both she and Jasraj were badly injured in the accident. They finally got married on 19th November 2013 in a small ceremony. The marriage took place at The Fort Ramgarh hotel in Panchkula near Chandigarh. Later on, 21st November the reception took place in Hotel Mountview in Chandigarh attended by a lot of family friends and TV stars.

Career and Professional Life :

Since she was a teenager Gautam had desired to experience the life of a star. Her career started with a casual audition for the role in Sony’s Meet Mila De Rabba. She found herself lucky to win a lead role at just 17 years old. She hadn’t had any formal training in the medium. Her training happened through her auditions and by being on the sets directly.

But she broke no sweat as she gave life to her character of Geet. The character is like her in many ways. Thus, her portrayal of charming and free-spirited Geet won her many fans. It all felt surreal to her as she got to see the likes of Raza Murad, Rajeshwari Sachdev, Kunika Lal and Asha Sharma in action.

Initially, she had planned to study law at Punjab University, but such a grand opportunity doesn’t come every day. Despite having no experience, the camera didn’t scare her but the acting process did. It took quite an effort on her part to do her character justice. The serial led to her grabbing a Punjabi romantic-comedy film ‘Power Cut’ in 2012, where she met her love.
