- Perhaps one of Heather’s most memorable reports was in June 2014, when her purse was stolen from the news van during a live report just outside Oakland’s police headquarters.
- The rather startled reporter had been covering the story of a woman who had been violently robbed in the Temescal area.
- Once Heather had recovered from the experience, she tweeted “R u kidding me? Doing a live report & my purse is stolen from the live truck”,. Still, Heather later saw the funny side and tweeted “Lesson here…be aware of your surroundings at all times, including at police headquarters!”.
- In February 2014, as Heather was on live air, a trickle of snot (mucus) oozed out from her nose, and she had to lick it up for continuing the broadcast. The embarrassing moment was captured and reported by DailyMail and a few other media outlets.

Having worked at channels 5, 4, and 7 as a news film video editor, I find your news and talent refreshing and very informative. I retired after 40 years in the business I retired in 2005. I worked with some of the folks on your newscasts and they haven’t aged at all.

Heather Holmes I find has a straight up front approach with her poise and great down-to-earth presentable speaking. It must be because she is a Texan? I am a professional jazz musician and have backed up some Texans that are confident like her in their performances.
I am disappointed when she is not available on the news more? I also like the sportscaster Mark Abanez who tell’s it like it is!
Again, Heather is a feather in the hat and a big plus for channel 2 news.
