On today’s show you asked for suggestions for Heather and David when they do the walk-in prior to the show: How about her kids escort them. How about some random person hands her and David flowers. How about notable people escort them in – like the mayor, penguins hockey star, Raina, etc.
I really like Heather Abraham, but I was disappointed in her reporting on the incident in Central Park, when a man who happened to be black asked a white woman to leash her dog in a bird-watching area of the park. The woman’s reaction was extreme and ridiculous under the circumstances. (She practically strangled her dog). She obviously was not intimidated because she tried to get closer to the man to the point where he had to tell her to back up. The woman threatened to call the police and falsely report that he was threatening her.
Heather’s reporting seemed to indicate that a black man bird watching was hard to believe. Of course, she didn’t say that in words, but her tone indicated her disbelief. It’s an example of unconscious bias and why Pittsburgh is not the most livable city for black people. Many whites have been brainwashed to believe that all blacks are criminal and violent. In fact, the man in Central Park Is a bird watcher, on the Board of the Audubon Society and a Harvard Grad, class of 1984, I believe.
Please don’t paint us all with a broad brush of criminality.
If Pittsburgh is not as African friendly as you would prefer, there are many cities that are more hospitable to those of African ilk.
How ignorant can you be.
