  • Thais Antoinette Baker was born on 26th February 1962, in Santa Barbara, USA and was raised in Malibu. She has two brothers.
  • The family are direct descendants of the Foxen family, related to the De La Querras and the Cotas, founding families of Santa Barbara.
  • Thais died from a severe case of breast cancer in 2009, in her home in Montecito, California. She was buried in the Santa Barbara Cemetery.

  • In 1988, Thais married racing driver Steve Bren. Together they had two children, Gigi and Oliver. The couple divorced in 1990.

  • Despite the treatment, by 2008 her health got increasingly worse.
  • According to the golfer, Thais wanted to die in her own house in Santa Barbara.
  • Between 2005 and 2007, her relationship with Couples was on and off. They separated, but never divorced, and he went to live with another woman. They tried to reconcile, but the peace lasted for only for a few months.
  • Allegedly, Baker never let her second husband close to her children, especially in the harder parts of her illness.
  • After her death, her children were looked after by friends of the family, and kept in touch with their mother’s former partner, Fred, even though her friends apparently considered him a bad person, as the athlete revealed in an interview.
  • Thais’ mother Sandra died the same year as her daughter.
