- Laurence met his wife, Suranne Jones in 2015. The couple dated for just 6 weeks before Akers proposed.

- The couple tied the knot in 2014 but kept details about their engagement and nuptials very private. The wedding was held in London at the Islington Town Hall and was attended by just a few close friends, family and colleagues.

- Leaving the company in 1991, Laurence joined ITV as a music associate in March of 1991. During his time at ITV, he worked on a show called “What’s up Doc” and booked live music bands for the weekend morning kids show. He also wrote scripts for both shows and researched presenting material.
