In November of 1999, Wendy moved to KOLD News 13 and became a fill-anchor and reporter for the station. She eventually left the company in November 2000 and immediately began working for WUAB/WOIO as a fill-in anchor and reporter.
Gillette worked for WUAB/WOIO for almost five years before leaving in September of 2005 to join the WCBS team as a reporter. She spent the majority of her 9-month tenure at WCBS freelancing before eventually moving on in 2006 to join CBS.

In April 2008, she decided to expand her resume and took on the role of a reporting / writing instructor, helping aspiring TV and media interns hone their skills. She was based in New York City for four years and ten months.
While working as an instructor, Wendy also freelanced as a correspondent for NBC News from July of 2010 until December 2012. She also freelanced for WCBS during the same time period, covering stories around NYC and the USA in general. She covered several high-profile stories that included the devastation and aftermath of Hurricane Irene in 2011 as well as the legalization of same-sex marriage in the New York region.
Between 2012 and 2017, Wendy continued to freelance for various companies and stations including ABC News, NY1 News and Arise News. She mainly worked as a news anchor, covering stories across the USA and the world. Gillette also filled in as an anchor for Verizon Fios 1 News.

In June 2018, she joined CBS News and began working as a network radio news anchor and has been with the company ever since. She also works as a business anchor, editor, producer, and writer.

Is that a dimple in your left cheek? You and Ms. Anne-Marie Green are great newscasters…straightforward and even tempered. Others at CBS put twinges on their words showing opinion. Ask them to reduce the time CBS NEWS banner puts up…it covers your right chest. I like seeing all of you. It is soothing to a widower octogenarian as if you were sitting in my family room.
