- Vanessa’s career began after college when she auditioned for a position as a host for the Steelers KidZONE program which was hosted by McDonald’s. She landed the job after 2 rounds of auditioning and spent the next 4 years hosting the program. Herring was also fortunate enough to interview NFL player, Ben Roethlisberger when he was drafted to join the league in 2004.
- After leaving KidZONE, Vanessa joined WBAL-TV News and began working as a freelance reporter. After impressing executives at the station, Herring was offered a full-time job which she began in October of 2015.
- In addition to working for WBAL-TV, Vanessa also worked as a reporter for the Hearst Washington News Bureau and CBS Washington D.C.
