- She attended the Sevenoaks School, a highly selective co-ed independent school in Sevenoaks, Kent. Later, she headed to the University of Warwick for her further education.
- After graduating with Honours from university, she married her long-time boyfriend Derm Tanner, and the two now have two sons together.
- A tomboy from a young age, Tanya was raised in the Yorkshire countryside by her parents & her paternal grandparents.
Early & Young Life :
- Right from when she was a child, Tanya was a big fan of sports, particularly rugby. She even liked to play cricket.
- She was known to throw tantrums when her mom would attempt to dissuade her from sporting activities.
- She has said in later years that she feels bad that she wasn’t able to be the girly-girl daughter that her mother had dreamed of.
- She has stated that as she got older, she began to understand the desire to dress nice and wear makeup, but states that she is still happiest in jeans and a baggy sports shirt.
Tanya Arnold Salary, Career and Net Worth :
- Tanya freelanced amongst many radio programs in the UK at the beginning of her career and became known for her deep voice.
- After appearing on TV during her coverage of a sporting event, she caught the eye of a producer who thought she would be a fit for a program he was looking to cast.
- The producer reportedly went over her previous career with a fine-tooth comb & met with her several times before offering her the role of a Sports Presenter for the BBC.
- In 2012, she also became a presenter for the BBC program The Super League Show, a role she took over from Harry Gration.
- Currently, she mostly appears on the BBC Look North network as their lead sports reporter.
A Woman in a Man’s World :
- Being a female reporter in what is considered a man’s world, she has copped a lot of criticism. The criticism even went so far as to label her ‘trans’ in 2012.
- The public forum Transtastic had a public thread in 2012 where they listed reasons why they believed Tanya was born a man & with many of the contributors stating that it was her manliness that got her ahead in the sports reporting world.
- The accusation of being transgender has been actively denied, and her management team responded to the statements by laughing, as there is medical evidence that she gave birth to her two sons.
- Although Tanya has never publicly commented on this issue, she has spoken out about her desire to succeed in this industry.
- She has said her desires stem from watching sports as a child and feeling out of place as there were very few strong feminine personalities for her to look up to.
- Tanya has said she wants to be that personality who serves as inspiration for the next generation of tomboys!

I love Tanya Arnold. She was and is a better sports reporter than many in the game and certainly better than a lot of men. Her depth and width of knowledge of Rugby League are second to none. The players love her too as evidenced by their conversations with her. Note here I wrote CONVERSATIONS not interviews, as that is what they are. The affection and esteem in which she is held shine through all she does. What is more, she has a gorgeous contralto voice!
In this mad world full of troublemakers and nosey people, Tanya is simply brilliant at her job.
It’s so nice to have a female presenter who has a well-modulated, clear voice instead of the shrill, harsh tones of the majority. Well-informed, knowledgeable, and insightful, Tanya Arnold is a pleasure to watch and listen to.
Of all the female commentators out there, Tanya tops the bill! I love her a lot.
Tanya’s a top quality pundit, knowledgeable with superb presentation skills and unlike some of her male counterparts, she doesn’t hog the microphone.
Very simply, she is a superb sports presenter, brilliant to listen to, and her knowledge of the Rugby League World is first-class. Worthy of a much wider BBC role. Hope to see her soon there.
The only problem with Tanya is insufficient air time. Give her an hour of Super League I am sure she will keep us just as enthralled with her knowledge of the sport and the personalities therein. Rock on Tanya!
A lot of this information is incorrect, not the right birthday and she has one son, a stepson and a stepdaughter.
Totally agree with the earlier comment from richard.Tanya Arnold does a great job, with both knowledge of her brief and the approachable manner she has with guests. As far as rugby league goes, she leaves Mark Chapman for dead. The BBC, or any other broadcaster would do well to give her a higher profile.
I quite agree that she should be commentating on live games. Her knowledge of the game and her perdonality merits this.
How we try to determine someone’s sexuality instead of their aptitude and professionalism is embarrassing. She is a fine, knowledgeable presenter and we should respect her accordingly.
Go Tanya!
Just love Tanya Arnold as a Sports Presenter and comes across as a
very nice lady too.
Tanya Arnold is a top-class rugby League presenter and really should be given the lead on live match shows in place of Mark Chapman.
Her knowledge of the game is faultless and she has earned the lead role, not just as support on the touchline.
Forget any rubbish spouted about Tania Arnold. She’s a top professional proving all the time she fully deserves her rugby league spot.
Her knowledge of the game is immense and is the equal of any player, manager or official.
She’s always at ease and presents with supreme confidence at all times. The respect the world of rugby has for her is abundantly clear.
i think Tanya is the most lovely woman. She is classy and very beautiful I love her enthusiasm gross comments are disgusting…I love you
