Jacquie was born on 21st April 1965, in Dublin, Ireland.
Her full name at birth was “Jacqueline Leavey.”
She was raised in Coventry, England, with her family relocating to the area when she was three years old.

A keen dancer and gymnast from a young age, her mother pushed her towards the competitive side of things, and she trained in both disciplines 6 days a week from age 7 to 18.
At the age of 19, she competed in the 1984 Olympics Games in Los Angeles, in rhythmic gymnastics. Although she was praised for her tenacity in performance, she only placed 31st in the overall scoring.
Education : After making the decision to retire from competitive gymnastics, she went on to attend Birmingham University where graduated with a degree in sports science.

After graduating from Birmingham, Jacquie made the decision to focus on a career in Broadcast Journalism. She also worked for a few years in odd radio jobs.
In 1992, she was offered a full-time position with Sky News. She first began working as a publicist for their sports division, before moving into the role of sports reporter and presenter.
She made heart-warming headlines in 2012; as she decided to adopt 2 dogs live on-air spontaneously while she was presenting a human-interest piece on local rescue shelters.

As of 2017, she is still with Sky News, and she now presents the sports updates through their Sunrise Breakfast program from Monday to Thursday. The show airs daily between 6am and 10am.

On Christmas Eve of 2013, after having found a pea-sized lump in her breast 2 weeks prior, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She made the decision to not tell her husband and children at the time, so as not to upset them on Christmas Day.
She told them on the morning on 31st December 2013, before announcing it publicly that afternoon.
Immediately starting chemotherapy, she briefly stepped away from her duties with Sky News. The network publicly stated that they would be supporting her through this tough time.

After a little over 2 years of continuous treatments, on 9th January 2017, she announced to the world that she had been given the all-clear and was in remission.
She has said that throughout her treatment, she looked up to Jane Plant, who has famously beaten cancer 5 times.
