Introduction :
Meghan Payton is an American college student and aspiring sports broadcaster. Although she is making her own name in the business, she is more well-known as the daughter of New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton.
Personal Life, Parents and Family Details :
- Meghan Payton was born on March 21, 1997. She spent much of her childhood in Texas but moved to Louisiana with her brother, Connor, and their parents, Sean and Beth, when her dad was named head coach of the New Orleans Saints in 2006.
- In Louisiana, the Paytons lived in a house along the Gulf Coast that was built after Hurricane Katrina had destroyed the area.
- It was later discovered that the house had been built with defective drywall, so in 2011, the family picked up and moved back to the Dallas, Texas, area.
- In 2012, Meghan’s parents filed for a divorce, which was finalized two years later. In 2014, Sean moved back to Louisiana while Meghan and her brother stayed in Texas with their mom.
- As of 2018, Meghan lives in California with her boyfriend, actor Christopher Titone (Adam Sandler’s brother-in-law). The couple has been dating since 2015.
Early Life and Education :
- Faith and caring for others was ingrained into Meghan at an early age. Her mom did work as a ‘Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)’ in Texas & now works as a care coach at Cross Timbers Church. In the summers between 2013 and 2015, she served on mission trips to El Salvador and Uganda.
- Sports made up the other part of her childhood. In high school, Meghan was on the cheerleading squad at Argyle Liberty Christian School, while her brother played for their football team.
- In 2015, Meghan started college at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, where she is majoring in media broadcasting and sports broadcasting.
- Set to graduate in 2019, she has already spent a year studying abroad in the UK and has completed an internship for the NFL Network where she got to report from the Pro Bowl and from several team practices around the league. She is also a member of the Surf Club.
Career, Income, Salary and Net Worth :
- The summer before her senior year, Meghan got the opportunity to be a sideline reporter for Fox 8 during two Saints preseason games. During that time, she interviewed her dad, who is notorious for skirting the media with short, vague answers.
- A month later, she broke away from football when she interviewed the head coach of the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans, Alvin Gentry.
- Meghan has been fortunate to find a mentor in award-winning sports broadcaster Laura Okmim, who, in addition to reporting for NFL on Fox, founded GALvanize Life which trains women entering the sports world. She has twice attended GALvanize boot camps.
Fun Facts, Height and Trivia :
- After the Saints won the Super Bowl in 2009, Sean brought the Lombardi Trophy home and asked Meghan if she wanted to kiss it. The then 12-year-old replied, “Ew, no, dad.”
- Following a scandal involving Meghan’s dad that had him suspended for the 2012 season, he returned to Texas and acted as the offensive coordinator for Connor’s sixth-grade football team.
