- Sarah is married & her husband Thomas is her favourite travel companion. They have two young sons together – named Ben and Caelan (born in November 2018). Prior to the birth of their children, the couple took long trips but now prefer shorter ones.

- Sarah McInerney was born and raised in Galway, Ireland. She attended secondary and high school in Salerno College, Galway. Galway is a county in the west of Ireland.
- Sarah started attending Dublin City University (DCU) in 1999. She graduated with a Journalism degree in 2003 and is a recipient of the DCU Alumni Award.

- McInerney worked for The Sunday Times as a political correspondent for over seven years & is still today a regular columnist for the paper.
- She also worked on Newstalk 106-108 FM radio as a presenter in 2016 for around eighteen months in Dublin.
- McInerney also worked on a BBC documentary about abortion in Ireland called “Counting Down”. After this documentary released, she worked for BBC as a radio presenter for another three months.
- Since 2011, Sarah has been a Board member in the Centre for Talented Youth in Ireland.
- In 2017, she landed a job as a television presenter for the TV3 Group Ireland, which was later rebranded to Virgin Media Television. Her work on TV3 used to include two programs: Newstalk, a weekly show at the Saturday 8AM slot & a Sunday afternoon current affairs show. Sarah left Newstalk in end of 2017.
- As a radio presenter for RTE Radio One, Sarah presented The Late Debate on RTE Radio One & also The Sunday Show on Virgin Media One.
- In early 2021, McInerney landed herself one of the most coveted roles in broadcasting, when she was selected to present Prime Time alongside veteran journalist Miriam O’Callaghan.
- McInerney has also written a non-fiction book on an important news event in Ireland where women were murdered or disappeared in the mountains outside Wicklow in Dublin. The book is called “Where No-One Can Hear You Scream” & was published in 2008.
