Sarigianopoulos was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, and has four parents! – two biological and two stepparents.
Her father worked in the police force. Her mother-in-law, Peggy, has a colorful Instagram account where she loves to showcase food, baking treats she makes, her travel adventures, and family.
In 2023, Rena initiated a GoFundMe campaign for her parents, biological mom Beverly and stepdad Jerry, whose townhome was destroyed in a fire. The fire occurred in a neighboring property and was intentionally set, affecting their connected townhome. Fortunately, Beverly and Jerry escaped safely with only the clothes on their backs, though they lost all their belongings. The incident took place in a four-unit townhome complex on Aspen Court, resulting in a 45-year-old man’s arrest for “negligent fires and dangerous smoking.” Sarigianopoulos shared the emotional experience in an interview with Chad Hartman on News Talk 830 WCCO.

Since July 2015, Rena is married to a Medical Device Salesman / Car Enthusiast named Scott, who sells luxury cars that include Maseratis and Bentleys.
The couple tied the knot in Minneapolis at the St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church in July 2015. The ceremony was attended by close to 175 guests that included close family and friends. In an interview after her wedding, Rena mentioned that Scott has “a real strong jawline,” and that “he has the looks of a GQ model.”

When she was young, Rena wanted to be a dentist or in the Air Force.
Eventually however, she earned her BA in Telecommunications degree from Youngstown State University in Ohio. She graduated in 1996. More commendable was the fact that she paid her way through school by taking a job at the fast-food chain Chick-Fil-A.

Rena began her career as a producer for the WKBN-TV station in 1996. She spent a little over 1 year working at the station before leaving in early 1997.
After leaving WKBN-TV, she joined KFXB-TV and worked as a reporter for a few months before leaving in 1998.

Sarigianopoulos joined WKOW-TV the same month that she left KFXB-TV. For around the next 4 years, she worked as a reporter and news anchor, covering various local and national breaking news bulletins. She was based in Madison, Wisconsin.
Rena spent some time working in Dubuque, Iowa, at Fox 40 before joining the WITI-TV team as a news anchor and reporter in Milwaukee.
In September of 2005, she moved from WITI-TV station and joined KARE-TV. She has been working for KARE-TV as a reporter and weekend anchor for well over a decade now and is still going strong.

You referred to Naomi Osaka as Black. You slight her Asian heritage by doing this…her mother is Japanese. Asians have been invisible in this country. The same is true when Tiger Woods is referred to as a black golfer…his mother is Asian. I would like you to use your TV news anchor position to correct your oversight.
