- While working in the Papua area in Indonesia for the BBC, Rebecca tweeted a photograph that showed food supplies and criticised aid relief organizations for giving malnutritioned children unhealthy food such as soft drinks, biscuits, and instant noodles.
- Her tweet offended the Indonesian military, who later released a press statement stating that she had hurt the feelings of military personnel and soldiers working in the region. She was eventually expelled from Papua for her tweet.
