Rana was born and raised in Bath, Ohio, though her family is from Iran. She is proud of her Persian heritage.
Rana has one sister, who has studied at the Parsons School of Design in Paris.

A former student of the American University in Washington D.C., Rana graduated with a double major degree in Bachelor of Arts Broadcast Journalism & Music, Vocal Performance. While in college, she worked at the University’s “District Wire News” as a news anchor.
She got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Sebastian Escotet in June 2017, and the two lovebirds exchanged their vows on November 24, 2017, at the Office of the City Clerk Marriage Bureau. They had a second grander ceremony at the Maria Cristina Hotel in San Sebastian, Spain, and later headed for their honeymoon to the Balearic Islands. Currently, the couple lives in New York City.
