Philip Petrie, a Weather Presenter for STV, announced his engagement to his partner in December 2022.

From 2007 to 2011, Philip earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Media with First Class Honours from Robert Gordon University. Prior to that, he attended Robert Gordons College for his high school education from 2001 to 2007.

Philip started his working life at Pizza Hut in 2007 while studying at university. After graduating, he became a full-time employee and progressed to Shift Manager training, being signed off as a full-time manager in 2013. During his time at Pizza Hut, he also joined the Pizza Hut Media Academy, where he worked in London to create and appear in several Pizza Hut training videos.
In 2014, Philip joined The Belmont Filmhouse for a few months as a change of scenery from Pizza Hut. He worked across the box office, the snack stand, and the bar in the cinema’s basement. His time there was short, but it was full of great experiences and opportunities.
Also in 2014, Philip worked as a Presenter at Apex Training and Development for seven months.

Finally, Philip joined STV in September 2015 after searching for long for a broadcasting industry job since graduating. He became a Technical Operator working behind the scenes on one of Scotland’s leading news programs and learned so much invaluable information in a busy newsroom environment. During his three years at the company, he had further training to cover other studios and worked in the hectic Traffic department.
In September 2018, he started working at STV as an Assistant Weather Presenter. He produced weather graphics and maps for use in the broadcast forecasts, as well as helped to produce special half-hour weather programs.
More recently, Philip was promoted to a more senior position as a Weather Presenter. At the same time, Sean Batty, who has been with STV for over 20 years, was named the new Head of Weather.
