Nydia Han is an American news anchor, investigative reporter, troubleshooter, writer and journalist working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Han was born on November 22, 1973, and grew up in Ventura, Southern California.
She is an only child who sometimes described herself as “Daddy’s Girl.” In fact, Nydia often loves sharing pictures of her father on her social media platforms.

Her mother passed away in 2009 after suffering from lung cancer.
Nydia is of Korean-American heritage and can speak fluent Korean in addition to English.
She met her husband, Dennis Reilly in 2002 after moving to Philadelphia. Originally, she wanted to leave Philly because she felt her career was stagnant but decided to stay after meeting her husband.

The couple wed in Napa Valley in California on September 4, 2010, & went on to have two children.
Their son, Harris was born on April 4, 2014, & their daughter, Sabine was born in 2012.

Early Life and Education :

Nydia attended Northwestern University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the university’s Medill School of Journalism.
Han also specialized in International Studies as part of her degree course.
For some time, she also studied in Seoul, South Korea at the Yonsei University.

Career, Job, Salary and Net Worth :

Nydia’s career began in 1995, in Pocatello, Idaho, at KIFI-TV, where she worked as a news reporter. She spent a little over two years working in Idaho before moving to Oklahoma City in Oklahoma to take a position as a news reporter at the KOCO-TV station. At her time there, she crashed two vehicles! The Southern California native wasn’t used to driving on icy and snowy conditions.
In September 1999, Han joined KTRK in Houston, Texas, and worked as a TV news reporter & left the station in September 2002.

A month after leaving KTRK, Nydia moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to join the WPVI-TV station. She has been working for the station for close to two decades as a reporter and news anchor.
Nydia is currently a Consumer Investigative Reporter, Action News Sunday co-anchor. She has spent over a decade traveling around the country to cover various breaking news bulletins.
More recently, Han created a docuseries called “ThisIsAmerica” which offers a fresh and provocative look at the current state of the country from a social and political standpoint while encouraging people to examine their own personal prejudices and biases.

Nydia has an Emmy award for her journalism and has worked hard over the years to expose scams, encourage business owners and protect consumers from fraudulent business owners.

Interesting Facts and Trivia :

She loves to give back to the community and is passionate about raising awareness of lung cancer, which took her mother’s life in 2009.
Nydia is also a mentor for young and aspiring journalists.
When she is not working, she enjoys playing the piano, eating, and enjoy some good wine with her husband. She also loves being a mother and spending time with her children.

If not a journalist, Nydia would have loved to be a concert pianist or a pop star.
One thing Han wishes for is for more diversity in local newsrooms. Most of her career, she has been the lone Asian American anchor/reporter among the news staff.
Sometimes speaking in front of a live audience can be intimidating for Nydia. Often smaller the audience, and more intimate the audience, the more nervous she tends to feel, especially if she knows people in the group. However, the MOST nervous she felt in decades was right before her TEDx talk!

Nydia is the best consumer and investigative reporter Philadelphia has ever had. I call her “Bulldog” because of her tenacity. Would like to see her more in anchor positions. she’s great on Sunday AM. I’m a former colleague of Dr. Chris Wong, who I believe was in your wedding party.boy does he sing Nydis’s praises. Nydia, you are an elegant lady. you set a great example to other Asian-Americans. We should see more Asians on TV-send that to your general manager!!!
