  1. We were dismayed to hear that Norman was leaving the News at 1 team. Without a doubt, he was the best at summing up the main issues, very often with his wry sense of humour.

We’ve wished he could have stood as P. M, so clear in his thinking, and speaking.

We do wish him well in retirement, but if he could make a comeback, I’m sure there would be loud cheer! Feeling genuine sadness, at not seeing him each day, without doubt he’s been the one personality on the whole T. V, that I would ‘run’ to watch, whenever he appeared. From a desolate fan, of 85 yrs.

I find the reporting of Norman Smith the most negative in all the BBC reporting. It would be nice FOR ONCE if he were to say something good about the government who are trying so hard to help everyone in this crisis. Yes they do not always get it right but this is a national crisis. SO PLEASE NORMAN FOR ONCE CAN YOU PLEASE SAY SOMETHING NICE,

    Francesca

    1. I am saddened by the premature retirement of the peerless Norman Smith BBC News Assistant Political Editor.

We all stop to listen at around 6.30 when he broadcasts. We are confident in the accuracy and honesty of his reporting and his good judgment. He is outstanding and is quite irreplaceable.

Thank you Norman for your reliability and telling it as it is!
