- Malorie was brought up on a farm in Wellington, Kansas, surrounded by animals, including pigs and a number of farm dogs.

This job allowed her to produce a series called “Bad Judgement,” detailing the scrutiny of a corrupt local judge. Malorie followed the judge around town, recorded his whereabouts, and even logged his time at the courthouse. For over five weeks, they learned that the judge spent only about 42 hours ‘at work.’ The series won a Kansas Area Broadcasters Award and was the start of a long journalism career.
- Her first full-time job came in May 2000 with KODE TV in the town that she grew up – Joplin, Missouri. She started as the 10 pm. anchor but soon found herself anchoring the 5 and 6 pm news too. Her promising development at KODE TV gave Maddox the opportunity to move to Omaha to become part of the WOWT – Channel 6 News Team in 2004.
- She became a leader at WOWT and anchored the five, six, and ten pm news. She stayed at WOWT for well over a decade. In 2018, Malorie left the news business in favor of a position at Blue Cross Blue Shield as their Vice President of Communications.

- Early on in her TV career, Malorie used her real name, Malorie Bartelson. Her news director requested her to come up with a new nickname because “her name was being butchered by everyone!”
- One day, the mail came for Malorie addressed as ‘Marjorie Cordelsen.’ Her co-workers liked it so much that they began calling her” ‘Marjorie’ or ‘Marge.’ Thus, she got a new nickname!
- The news director added that, with Malorie’s first name, her last name could be Michaels or Maddox, as they both rhymed well.
- Eventually, Malorie’s colleague Carol Wang, who was then a reporter at KAKE-TV, decided that ‘Maddox’ will be her name going forwards.
