- Laura married her husband, Dean Brown, on August 13, 2010, after being engaged to him for seven months. They met while they were studying at university. She announced LIVE on May 2nd, 2017, that they were expecting their first child.
- The news came as a surprise to most people as she had only disclosed it to close family members. Her first child Charlotte was born in September 2017. The baby was born prematurely, weighing less than 3lbs, and her lungs hadn’t finished developing. Charlotte was on oxygen for the first three months and later even developed bronchiolitis.

- Tobin joined the Met Office upon graduation, where she underwent training for broadcast meteorology.
- In October 2004, she was assigned to the Cardiff Weather Centre to gain experience in broadcasting with BBC Radio Wales.
- After a year, Laura joined the Royal Air Force Brize Norton and provided aeronautical meteorology forecast reports and briefings. She was there for the next two years.
- She then joined the weather team at the BBC Weather Centre at the end of 2007, regularly appearing on BBC News, BBC World News, BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Red Button.
- Laura later joined Daybreak, a relaunched breakfast programme on ITV as a weather reporter. Daybreak was replaced by Good Morning Britain in April 2014, but she remained as a weather presenter on the programme.

- Laura is also the current Guinness World Record holder for filling and folding 11 pancakes in 60 seconds. She broke her own record in February 2017.
- Tobin was the first member of the public to ride Alton Towers roller coaster The Smiler.
