Laura Allison Jarrett is an American practicing litigation attorney and a Senior Legal Correspondent for NBCNews. Prior to that, she was a political reporter for CNN based mostly in Washington, DC. From January 2020 until 2022, Laura was the anchor of the show “Early Start” along with co-host Christine Romans.

- Laura Jarrett was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1983 to parents William and Valerie Jarrett (maiden name Valerie Bowman).
- Her parents were well educated and encouraged her to follow in their footsteps with powerful work, and they have since been quoted in interviews as saying they hoped they would make their daughter proud.
- Laura’s mother Valerie was born in Iran in 1956 but moved to Chicago as a child. Valerie is famous for having an impressive career in politics and for serving as a senior adviser to former U.S. President Barack Obama during both of his successful presidential terms. She was also a mentor to former First Lady, Michelle Obama.
- Laura’s dad William Jarret was the son of Chicago reporter Vernon Jarret and worked as a director of obstetrics and gynecology.
- Unfortunately, Laura was unlucky enough to lose her father (due to cardiac arrest) when she was only ten years old, in 1993. William himself was just 40.
- Now living in Washington D.C., Laura married Canadian politician Tony Balkissoon on June 17, 2012. Her father-in-law is a renowned Ontario-based politician Bas Balkissoon. Ex-U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder & Ex-President Barack Obama attended the wedding celebrations.

I read the CNN article regarding the mishandled White House documents by Katelyn Polantz and yourself…it was quite informative. However, there was no mention of any possibility of the documents being shared with either Putin or Kim Jung Un. I do not want to suggest that the docs were or would be shared, but a lot of folks are aware of the questionable relationship between Putin and Kim Jung Un and the former real estate guy. It would be nice to know if that is being investigated. We know nothing will happen to him for simply removing the docs but it is what he did with them that would be most concerning. Just a thought, thanks.

Laura Jarrett is an excellent commentator. I watched her early this morning on CNN. This site has her listed as “white”. I beg to differ! I believe she is of mixed race heritage which is inclusive of an African lineage.
It is okay to be recognized as something other than white. It is okay to be of African American decent, Native American, Latinex, and AAPI heritage.
It is about the content of her character and her professional approach as a journalist.

Laura’s mother is Iranian.
Her comments on political issues are distinguished and with a high speed of articulation which leads the audience to deliberate the prospective professional development future as Attorney General. I saw Laura Jarreth on TV last evening. Her excellent grammar and articulation speaks well of her Midwest upbringing. I am a Family Physician with 54 years of experience. The manner of a woman’s smile and the precise shape of her eyes at this time tells me a lot about this gal. Never haven spoken to her and knowing nothing else about her (no I am not in love) I believe Laura is sincere, very intelligent, and I would totally trust her until proven otherwise.

I was fortunate to catch Laura Jarrett on a panel last evening on CNN. I found her input to be poignant and enlightening. This is clearly an example of the next generation of news commentators! I wish her continued success. I hope CNN finds a way to give her more airtime! I am a fan.
