She revealed child drownings at community pools that prompted county officials to appropriate life jacket policies & was the only reporter to interview pro-cyclist George Hincapie after national reports alleged doping with Lance Armstrong in May.
- In her free time, the music forms she enjoys are rock, old rap, jazz, and electronic dance.
- At age 18, Kim had a bad car accident, breaking her leg bone. She currently has a metal rod in her leg.

- The Oregon Associated Press also honored her with ‘Best Investigative Reporting’ for her series on “How prepared government agencies were for a magnitude 9.0 earthquake in the Pacific Northwest.”
- In 2010, she earned the General Reporting awarded by The South Carolina Associated Press. This was followed by The South Carolina Associated Press – Spot News Award in 2011 for Kim contributing reports on a manhunt following a shooter’s ambush against a police officer.
