  1. This may be the wrong platform for my particular plea, but given her clear diction, I’d vote Kawser Quamer to be the first female presenter of University Challenge.
This is a programme that’s been a must for my wife and myself for decades. Towards the end of his tenure presenting it, Jeremy Paxman’s difficulties with his Parkinson’s affliction did start to affect his speech, but his replacement (Amol Rajan) seems to be perennially late for a plane with its engines running. This gets noticeably worse as he gets nearer and nearer the last few questions of each episode. My wife and I are octogenarian addicts of the programme (she’s a gardening freak, I’m a retired chemistry teacher) and I admit to having a problem with my hearing, but by the end of each episode, I’m exhausted and fuming.
Adopting an evidence-based (if subjective) approach, I decided to check on Amol Rajan’s speed of diction compared with the presenters of a variety of other types of programme from other broadcasters and found he was way ahead of the competition. And don’t just take my word for it. It’s easy enough for you to check for yourself.

    1. I couldn’t agree more. Amal Rajan just gabbles so quickly that he doesn’t enunciate clearly and one also cannot keep in mind what he says when he speaks so quickly. In trying to remmber what he has just said seconds ago, one missses what he is then saying in that moment. He does just the same on Radio 4 in their morning breakfast programme. He should be told of his shortcomings which are so offensive to viewers/listeners and if not corrected immediately he should be taken off presenting. I for one have given up watching University Challenge because of him. Shame, it’s been enjoyable since Bamber Gascoigne’ time but no longer thanks to Mr Rajan.

  2. Kawser should front the weather on a permanent basis. She even makes bad days sound good. She would also be great doing travel and wildlife programs. Did I say she is very beautiful? ❤️ her.

  3. I also would like to see Kawser more regularly. She is clear in her delivery. Does not drop her voice at the end of sentences – nor does she breathe in the middle causing the meaning to be lost. Find the men pretty clear too – and dressed as for work .

  4. Kawser is, by far, the best weather presenter on BBC Scotland these days. She has a great voice, her manner of delivery is clear and precise, making it a pleasure to listen to her, she is always smartly dressed and nice to look at on the screen.

I wish that she could present the weather forecast every day! She’s great!
