Former singer and TV personality, Judith Ralston is a leading presenter working for BBC Scotland.
A trained musician turned weather presenter, Judith was born in Edinburgh in 1966.

Her studies took her to Manchester, but she returned to Scotland after folding up her singing career.
Family : Judith now lives in Glasgow with her husband, Fraser Ralston, a Met Office forecaster whom she met at BBC.
Fraser and Judith have three children, two of whom are twin girls, and an elder son named Alexander (born in the early 2000s). The doting mother describes her daughters Max and Georgia as ‘rays of sunlight.’ Max and Georgia were born prematurely, weighing under 4lbs, and spent a long time in special care.

Judith delivered her twins at the age of 44, back in 2011! Before her twins were born, Ralston had suffered a series of miscarriages – a heartbreaking loss of her daughter at 24 weeks, followed by the loss of another baby in early stages of pregnancy.

A Sudden Change!

Judith first started singing professionally as a student, sang professionally with the Scottish Opera and even sang in the same La Boheme production she’d seen at school. However, a voice injury at age 28 cut short her opera career. The talented singer had peaked early in the world of opera but disaster struck when her voice began to falter.

The muscles in her voice box were damaged & the rising star was forced to leave behind her singing career.
She got help from the Edinburgh Voice Clinic and started presenting traffic and travel slots on radio stations, at the suggestion of a journalist friend.
She stated that the damage had mostly developed due to bad teaching.

Fresh to presenting, Judith landed her first job with BBC Scotland as a travel reporter.
She made her first broadcast in 1999 & soon after, she was a weather forecaster for the network.

Judith Ralston Weight Loss : After ending her opera career, Judith became depressed, taking medication for her illness and gaining weight. The unhappy diva went from weighing 13 stone to 18 stone within eight months.
While on the road to recovery, Judith decided to take control of some of her unhealthy habits and dropped to just under 10 stone; Judith was previously a UK size 22.
