Wiki Biography / Profile Background

Introduction :

Jill Franks, a petite blonde with blue-grey eyes and a pointed face, has been acting ever since she was a child. She is most well-known for her work as a host on QVC UK.

Jill Franks Family and Personal Life :

  • On November 22, 1993, Jill married her husband, Larry, on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia.
  • This destination wedding cemented her love of the tropics, and she continues to regularly vacation there with him.
  • Franks and her husband also own a bulldog named Scruncher, who is now over a decade old. Back in 2014, Scruncher, then seven years old, had gone missing after Larry turned his back on the micro-chipped dog for a few seconds.
  • Along with her love of fitness, Jill describes herself as someone who is born to shop.

Professional Life : Early Years

  • Franks began acting at the age of 14 in the UK, when she landed roles in some commercials, TV shows, and even appeared in some small-stage plays.
  • As a child, she was most recognisable for her appearances in the TV show The Darling Buds of May, Tucker’s Luck, and Grange Hill.
  • The Darling Buds of May was a comedy series adapted from the novel by H.E. Bates. The series had three seasons and is known in the UK as a TV classic.
  • Grange Hill followed a plot of typical high school drama & became popular enough to garner a spin-off, Tucker’s Luck.
  • At age 19, Franks began acting in plays for the West End theatre. Among them were Me and My Girl and West Side Story.

Hosting Career, Salary and Net Worth :

  • Franks soon left acting behind and instead found love in hosting. Her first post-acting job was at Capital Hill FM, London’s number 1 music station. There, she hosted a radio show and presented songs.
  • After that, she moved on to Kiss FM, another music station based in London. She then moved on to Virgin Radio, then moved back to TV to work on the UK branch of the popular shopping channel QVC.
  • She also runs her own blog through the site.

Jill’s Favourites & Preferences :

  • Favourite Food : Chocolate
  • Favourite Films : Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Gone with the Wind, The Polar Express, Beauty and the Beast
  • Favourite Hobbies : Heading to the theatre, eating out and running
  • Perfect weekend idea : Going away to the coast with her husband Larry and pet dog
  • Scariest thing ever done : Scubadiving in the Atlantic in freezing temperatures
  • Silliest moment at QVC : Accidentally shaving off a model’s hair with Remington clippers as Jill forgot to put the attachment!

Jill Franks QVC Opinions on Forums :

  • Unlike most QVC hosts, who have a steady following of supporters & usually a few pockets of viewers who hate them, Franks’ viewer base is split right down the middle. QVC fans either love or hate the enthusiastic reporter, with many citing her presentation style as the reason for their disdain.
  • Some viewers believe that she cannot let go of her acting past, and uses QVC as a platform to continuously talk about herself, leaving little time for the product owners to speak.
  • Others feel that she is inauthentic, as she constantly swears to her avid use of nearly every beauty product that comes on the show.
  • People that love Jill say that she is just a strong presenter, and wants to emphasise to her viewers the true value of the product.

Health Update :

  • Jill Franks Illness / Sick : She has no major illness or sickness to date and seems to be in good health.

  1. Just to chime in, she gets on my nerves at times but generally i can watch her. i agree that she is fake with her loyalties and there’s something just fake about her, or that she thinks she’s something she isn’t…. i don’t know. there’s a lot of fakery and me-me-me about her. but she’s not the worst presenter in that regard. i don’t mind them referring to their lives at all but if it’s not relevant to the product/brand i just don’t care. regarding her clothes…. sometimes i think she makes questionable choices but i dont believe that anyone dresses too young. dress how you want to dress.

that’s a bit of a mixed bag…! Overall – there are some qvc presenters i just cannot bear to watch, but she’s not really one of them.

  2. I have no personal criticisms to make – who am I to make them? But I do agree with the comments regarding some of the new “younger” presenters. They are unnatural and so false with their comments that they deter me from buying as I know it is all about a script and not genuine feelings or thoughts.

They rarely listen to the experts but rudely interrupt them. It is most annoying. They certainly don’t encourage me to purchase anything. In fact, I switch over if it is their turn.

  3. Oh dear, such bitchiness…one can only assume these uncalled for opinions come from “green-eyed” monsters

Jill is a lovely fresh honest presenter who in my opinion does a grand job…ladies, get over yourself all you negative nanny b—-es.

  4. Hello Jill, I really enjoy watching you present on QVC and have wondered, like others, where you have gone. I hope you’re able to return to doing what you do so well if indeed that is what you wish to do. Meanwhile, take care of yourself.

  5. In my opinion, Jill Franks does not dress suitably for her age or her role. She continually plays with her hair.

  6. My previous comments were cruel and unhelpful and I apologise. Jill has not been seen on QVC for weeks now. Jill please let us know if you are alright. Everyone including me is getting very worried about you. Again, sending my apologies and love. x

  7. Jill Franks in the U.K. is a lot better than the new bunch QVC has presenting now. The only thing they present is themselves dancing around showing off…it’s sickening…QVC has lost the plot it’s a shopping channel. I think they think they are on the tv for themselves, I have been a customer for a long long time, I remember the good old days with Goodie and that crowd, when it was a pleasure to watch and buy, now it’s all about the young silly self-absorbed presenters but not about the selling. I will still say it’s the best shopping channel on TV but in my opinion, it’s going down with all the silliness from some of the new presenters.

  8. Jill is probably a nice person but I too wish she would do something about her hair, it’s awful. Why does everyone think that long straggler hair suits them these days? It doesn’t. Unflattering to most people. Sorry, Jill.

  9. So sorry but I find her annoying too. She doesn’t share anything about her off-duty time on the rare occasion she writes a blog. The other presenters share pictures of their grandchildren, pets, cooking, etc. Doesn’t wear QVC brands. Needs something to do with her hair…it’s like rats’ tails. Keeps saying “What I love”

  10. I love watching Jill Franks. She is funny and comes across as a lovely person. She makes for very pleasant viewing. I’ve watched QVC for years and have a few presenters that I really like to watch. Jill is definitely one of them.

  11. Listen to all of you criticising Jill, haven’t you all got lives?

Well Jill this is the first time I’ve ever messaged and I’m shocked reading all this. I think you always look fabulous, have gorgeous blond long hair, and an amazing figure. You are stunning and in my mind, the word comes is jealousy!!!

  12. It’s totally unfair to tear into anyone simply because “you can”. If she’s that unbearable turn her off. Simple.

  13. I feel very sad that some people feel they have to leave such personal, offensive ( which is what they are ) and sensitive comments about someone. If you don’t like the person, that’s fine, but you really don’t have to twist the knife by being so personal. These people are human, just like everyone else and, at a guess would get hurt and upset by such comments. As for not sharing much of her private life in her blogs, can you blame her? There are a lot of weirdos out there who attach themselves to presenters and the like, so she probably feels it best not to. Also, the clue being in the statement “private life” is just that and if they choose to share that’s their business. After all, they are entitled to a life away from the cameras and viewers, aren’t they?

  14. Why does Jill Franks have to show her shoulders on every programme she does. Anyone would think she’s going to a party everyday. Less is more Jill. Cover up!!!

  15. I do not like the negative comments about Jill, she is one of my favourite presenters always looking groomed and polished. Looking forward to seeing her on air again soon.

  16. Jill I think your FAB, luv-it when your on & have the giggles, your great at your job, for all the females out there who make “not nice” comments…jealousy is not a good quality so as I always say…if someone is talking about me…”it’s none of my business”…so keep up the great work Jill ;))

  17. Jill seems a very nice person and seems to love her job, but like someone else commented, a softer make-up would be better and her lank hair does her no favours, something shorter and wider would make her look stunning.

  18. Jill Franks hasn’t been on QVC for ages, has she left? I really like her especially when she gets the giggles. Hope she hasn’t left

    1. Absolutely agree. Jill Franks is the one presenter who is a turn-off for me. She is just so old-fashioned and her appearance so dated especially that awful hair. Surely the makeup artists at QVC might gently suggest a more flattering finish??

  19. What nasty women there are here with their horrible comments……always ready to put someone down and Jill is their target. If you can’t say something nice, then it’s a pure reflection of the nastiness inside you

  20. I like Jill, I think she looks great and what a beautiful figure she has…I’m sure a lot of the women making horrible comments on here would like to look like her…keep up the good work Jill x

    1. I’ve never said anything about her looks but, lol, no i wouldn’t want to look like her. i don’t think she’s attractive but you know, we’re all born with what we’re born with. her looks don’t bother me. i don’t know that her figure is that, “beautiful”. she’s very thin and obviously very fit. i have my suspicions that she has a bit of an eating disorder the way she goes on about food…. kudos to her for the fitness and i would love to have less weight on me, but not at the cost of an eating disorder. and, i agree with the comments about her hair, although….. it’s her hair, she can do what she wants with it. it doesn’t bother me. and i have better hair than she does, that i know. i’m just pointing this stuff out because just because people have (personal) opinions, idgaf about what she looks like. i just care about whether someone’s a good presenter and whether or not they irritate me for whatever reason. so…. not envious. and no-one else necessarily is, either.

Jill Franks is probably a lovely woman but to me, she needs a complete sympathetic makeover in softer more forgiving colours and a modern hairstyle more suited to her age. The old-fashioned heavy look with teenage-style hair does not suit her anymore, she looks like a wooden doll.
