In 2002, Ian became an international correspondent for the BBC, where he remained until 2017. From 2002 to 2005, Ian was the Washington correspondent, covering domestic and foreign affairs issues affecting the US.

Since June 2017, Ian has been working for ABC News as a senior foreign correspondent based in London, England, but continuing to report from across the world.

Ian was the first journalist to enter Kabul, Afghanistan after the Taliban left it in 2001. He returned to Kabul in 2008, reporting on the demand for democratic change in the country.
Ian has won numerous awards for his reporting and for stories he was involved in breaking: an International Emmy award for his coverage of the continuous conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, two Peabody Awards, two Emmys, an International Press award for his reporting on Syrian families that had been displaced by the war, and the Royal Television Society award for his coverage in 2013 of areas controlled by Syrian rebels. In addition, he was also awarded the James Cameron Memorial Award for Foreign Correspondents in 2016.
When he’s not travelling for work, Ian loves spending time with his family and is frequently with his sons. They are all music fans, and Ian attended a Rolling Stones concert with all three of his sons.

Hello ABC. I’m a very devoted watcher of all ABC news. My family and I always are tuned in to ABC News. I came across your TAGS: (below) which stated “ABC NEWS ANCHORS FIRED / ABC ANCHOR SUSPENDED RETIRED LEAVING” I can’t find any information regarding this title. It’s very strange that it says nothing else regarding this. Is this TRUE or Not! Please respond. I like all of the ABC reporters. I’m very interested in knowing what has transpired.
