Huel A. Perkins is an Emmy award-winning anchor reporter currently working at WJBK Fox 2 in Detroit. He joined WJBK in 1989 and moved to Detroit.
Previously, he has also worked at KSDK in St. Louis, MO and WVLA NBC 33 in Baton Rouge.

Perkins has won two Emmy Awards for reporting and four nominations for best anchor.

Huel is the son of parents – the late Dr. Huel Davis Perkins (father) and Thelma O. Smith (mother). He is an only child. His father was the first black tenured professor at the Louisiana State University. Dr. Huel D. Perkins died on April 15, 2013.
He is married to Priscilla Perkins, who is currently the Chief Development Officer for Lighthouse of Oakland County. They have two sons, Jared and Vincent. When asked what the secret to a long, successful marriage is, Priscilla says, “You have to figure out a way to make it work because marriage is work. And it’s about always finding your way back to love.”

Remembering the segregated City he grew up in, he remembers waiting in a closet till his name is called at a doctor’s office. This was a time when his father was already a doctor himself.
With now, more than 24 years as a broadcast journalist, Huel started his education by studying to become a lawyer.
