- On 1st June 2013, Helen married Jonny Evans, a professional footballer who has played for the Northern Ireland National Team and also for the football club, Leicester City as a defender. He is more famous for being the centreback defender of the Manchester United football club.
- They married at Clough Presbyterian Church in his home county in a ceremony conducted by Helen’s father, Reverend Kenneth McConnell, an ardent Red Devil’s fan. The popular couple later spent their honeymoon in the eastern Caribbean island of Barbados.
