Gayane Chichakyan is no stranger to controversies. Raw video footage of her on the sets of a news channel had emerged on YouTube which featured her covering herself with a scarf after she unknowingly exposed herself.

In 2016, her repetitive questions to retired Navy admiral John Kirby, who was the US State Department spokesperson, irked him. She asked him to provide the sources behind his charge that Russians had bombed hospitals in Syria made him behave undiplomatically. He termed her questions ‘absolutely ridiculous’ and continued criticizing Chichakyan and her team. The viewers watched Kirby deride Gayane and asked her to direct her questions to the Russian Defence Ministry.
Gayane has on numerous occasions questioned the incredulous reporting by journalists at CNN who put a shroud of disbelief at everything Russia is doing in Syria by inciting that the mess is all engineered by Russia.
