I am a boomer, too, and I helped resettled American war resistors in Toronto during the Vietnam War. I have been in social services supporting children and adults with disabilities all my adult life. One of the mantras of the ‘60s was “to give back” to society, which I take as a sacred oath. Many boomers sold out, but in truth, many never bought in.
I and a few other cohorts have stayed true to our beliefs. Francesca is often too flippant, and the sarcastic side of her which is embedded in her life as a comic. TYT, in general, is often too damn smug in their sense of entitlement and moral superiority. I wonder how far they would have come in SNCC or in the freedom schools where boomers literally paid with their lives for freedom. Social media radicals are a joke.
