- Erin was born in Joliet, Illinois, but grew up in a Chicago suburb on five acres of country property.
- Since she grew up not far from the big city, the family would often catch a bus & go to watch a Bulls game or visit the Goodman Theater.
- After graduating from high school, Erin attended the Illinois State University, from where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Theater.
- Later, she also developed an interest in the weather & decided to go back to school and study weather. Enrolling herself at the Mississippi State University, she studied Broadcast Meteorology and graduated with a degree in the same.
- Currently, she resides in Tucson, Arizona.

- Christiansen’s journalism career began while she was still in college when she got a chance to intern at WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois.
- In the year 1997, she started working at KOLD-TV as an Account Executive.
- A few years later, in July 2000, she was promoted to co-anchor for News 13 This Morning, and as a meteorologist for News 13 at Noon, this marked her first on-camera entrance.
- Erin then joined the KOLD 13 team, where she was the morning meteorologist until May 2006.
- In 2006, she joined in at KGUN 9 News Station as their evening meteorologist & still continues to work there.
Awards and Achievements :
- A Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, Erin received her certification from the American Meteorological Society (AMS). She is also a member of The National Weather Association.
- Erin is a two times Emmy award-winning journalist for best weather reporter. In 2001, Erin received an award from the Arizona Associated Press for her exemplary work in news editing.
Interesting Facts, Height and Trivia :
- While in college, Erin went for a vacation to Sedona Grand Canyon during one of the summer breaks. She fell in love with Arizona, and later she relocated to go live there.
- In May 2015, she participated in Dancing with the Stars where she danced alongside her partner Luke.
- Christiansen admitted to believing in ghosts. She began believing in them after she had an experience with one once in her life. It happened when she and her family were on vacation and had rented a suite in a certain hotel.
- One night, when she was sleeping, she felt a gush of coldness on her back. The ghost then pulled her t-shirt over to her head and started stroking her back; Erin thought that perhaps it was her mom or dad, but she saw her dad still sleeping on his bed, and she started screaming.
- Telling her parents the next morning, they didn’t believe her though her dad had heard her screaming at night.
- Erin loves the holidays and her favorite is Halloween.

OK, I’m way late in catching up on the news, but watch very little TV…One exception is local weather…Wow!…No more smokin’ hot weather lady!…WhAT?…Man, she was impressive. She didn’t just give you the weather, she performed it!…And, clearly, she knew her s**t!…The epitome of a complete professional-with a unique personality…What a huge loss for Tucson!…Rarely tune in, but I really miss her…All the best to you Erin!…JB
