- Erica’s journalism career began in January 2008 when she started working as a newsroom intern at KRON-TV. Her role there was to find people to participate in the Q&A segment of Rob Black and Your Money & following up on breaking news with media agencies and local government.
- In February 2010, she took over the position of Production Assistant & Assignment Desk Editor. She was responsible for editing videos for the 11 p.m. newscast, researching and assigning breaking news stories to the field crew.
- In March 2010, Erica became the traffic producer and reporter. Responsible for preparing and presenting traffic reports for the Morning News, she even monitored traffic cameras and computers to get the latest updates.
- In April 2011, she took over as the Morning Meteorologist forecasting on live TV & providing on-air weather updates after every 15 minutes.
- Ms. Kato is also currently working as a traffic reporter for KCBS radio & as a meteorologist and traffic reporter for iHeart Media Radio Stations like Sacramento’s KFBK.
- Some of the big stories that she has covered include the San Bruno Gas line Explosion, the 2011 Fukushima Quake, the Asian Airlines Flight 214 Crash, and the Bay Bridge Closure.
- She was also the Director of Risk Management of Alpha Phi; she was responsible for coordinating their bi-annual safety forums.
