An avid surfer, music enthusiast and part-Australian by descent, Emma Vardy is a British Broadcast Journalist plying her trade currently as a Political Reporter and as a Home Affairs Correspondent on BBC News and BBC South respectively.

Emma’s mother Cary Vardy is originally from Sydney, Australia. She had done her high schooling from there, after which she moved to the UK for higher education.
Her mom also used to teach in the University of Southampton.
Emma currently resides in Southampton with her partner, Aaron Adams.

Ellsa Alexander-Adams, Aaron’s biological daughter with his former partner Leanne Alexander, passed away on February 5, 2021. The six-year-old Ellsa had suffered from epilepsy and many health issues since she was a baby.
Education : Emma did her post-graduation from Falmouth University in Cornwall in the discipline of Broadcast Journalism.
Back then, she was also nominated as the Reuters Student Journalist of the Year.

After her post-graduation, Emma joined Sky News as Junior Journalist. She was involved in behind the scenes workings of the newsroom & was later promoted to Editorial Assistant at Sky Sports. As part of the Sky team, she covered the Cricket World Cup, Premiership Football, Champions League, Formula One Racing and the Lions Rugby tour.
She then left London in 2006 to join BBC Cornwall as a Sports Presenter. She was part of a dedicated team of reporters providing live updates on football, rugby and other sports. In addition to her Saturday broadcast, she presented featured stories on Cornish heritage & tradition around the world on her Sunday programme.

In 2009, she joined as Broadcast Journalist for BBC Look North, but worked for only a year before moving on to BBC South Today (Oxford) as a Video Journalist for seven months.
In Jan 2011, she joined BBC Oxford & Sunday Politics North in the capacity of Political Reporter. She worked there till 2013 before switching back to South Today for a short stint of 11 months.

Emma recalls her memorable moments to be lifting the Rugby World Cup in Cornwall & watching Southampton get to the FA Cup final in 2003.

She recounts her bad moments to see Southampton getting relegated & crashing the Sky News autocue live on television.
Although, the worst of all was when she was in the Sky studio during the terrorist attack on US World Trade Centre on 11th September 2001.
In April 2020, Emma had created a cheeky X-rated video, supposedly to raise money for coronavirus & frontline workers. However, this resulted in her getting a warning from the BBC and she was asked to delete the video.

Interesting Facts, Height and Trivia :

Emma had been granted a full scholarship for pursuing music in prestigious Royal College of Music in South Kensington, London. However, she opted to choose Broadcast Journalism as her calling.
Once, she had publicly played the Xylophone at the Royal Cornwall Show.

At Cornwall, besides presenting, she regularly played in the Cornwall Netball League & visited surrounding beaches to surf around.
On BBC South Today, she undertook the challenge of living off 53 GBP for the whole week! She did succeed at it but termed the experience terrifying. The experiment was conducted to fact-check the statement made by then Tory MP Duncan Smith saying he could easily live off the unemployment wage of 53 GBP per week.
