In November 2022, Ellie revealed that she was being stalked by one of her guests, Leo Jones, for close to 16 months. Costello suffered from panic attacks and feared for her safety as Jones bombarded her with creepy messages. Further, during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, she realized Jones was just 10 feet away from her and staring at her with a “sinister” smile, causing her a panic attack. Earlier, he had even landed at the television studio where Ellie works. Jones, a former reality show contestant, was given a five-year restraining order by the court. Costello has spoken out about the experience, describing it as “really scary” and urging women to take stalking seriously.
