Dawn Davenport was born in Plano, Texas, on February 25, 1980. The popular Emmy Award-winning sports journalist was raised in Atlanta, alongside her brother, Dane Davenport.
She grew up in a sports-oriented family – Her dad was a walk-on basketball player at Duke, and even her mom loved sports. Along with her brother, Dawn played a lot of sports growing up and played volleyball at the college level.

Davenport is now married to her second husband, Travis Harter. The couple announced their union through Dawn’s official Instagram account on July 31st, 2019.
A few years earlier, on June 4, 2011, Dawn had married golfer Johan Kok in Nashville, TN. Until 2014, the sports host continued to post pictures of her ex-husband on Twitter (now called X). However, after the divorce, she stopped posting.

Dawn Davenport studied at Auburn University in Alabama, from where she graduated in 2002 with a BA in Mass Communication: Radio, TV, Film.
She was a three-year letterwinner and a two-time SEC Academic All-American member on the volleyball team.

Dawn’s career started in 2003 at WWAY News channel 3, where she worked as a weekend sports anchor reporter for around two years.
Later, she landed a job in WRIC-TV and covered the central Virginia sports market.
In 2008, she joined WKRN-TV in Nashville as a sports reporter.

From 2013 onwards, she moved from sports broadcasting to news anchoring. She co-hosted the show ‘News 2 This Morning’ from 2013 to 2017.
While quitting WKRN, Dawn mentioned that she thought Nashville would just be a small stint on her career ladder but lived close to 10 years there, as she fell in love with the city.
