Chris Haston was born Christopher Haston on June 27, 1962, in Harbor City, California, where he was also raised.
Chris was given his first camera by his stepfather when he was nine years old, and he has been hooked to the art of photography ever since.

Growing up in the 1970s, Chris used his camera to photograph his friends and peers. He was also involved in taking photographs for his high school yearbook.
Chris is the father of three children: daughters Katie Haston and Sarah Emmeline Haston, and son Louis Haston.
While he was working on the set of The Office in 2006, Chris met actress Kate Flannery. The two started dating soon afterward and have been committed partners to each other ever since.

Chris has traveled across the country with his job. He currently resides in Redondo Beach, California.

Throughout his career at NBC Universal, Chris has done still photography work on numerous NBC series such as the hugely popular Will & Grace and The Office.

In 2004, while Chris was going through a difficult time in his life, he found a statuette of the Virgin Mary when he was throwing out his recycling. The statuette was on top of a discarded stack of LA Times magazines destined for recycling.

Chris took the statuette home and decided to photograph it on the Downtown Los Angeles beach. Since then, the statuette has become the Riding with Mary project, which had an exhibit in 2008. Chris refers to the statuette as his ‘foreground texture,’ and he has taken numerous shots for the Riding with Mary project since 2004. The project is still ongoing.
In 2019, Chris’s partner Kate Flannery participated in the show Dancing with the Stars with dancer Pasha Pashkov. Chris attended all the live shows and supported her continuously on social media until her time on the show was over.
Chris is a huge Star Wars fan, and he also loves the work of actor Billy Bob Thornton. Chris got to meet Billy Bob Thornton at the 2019 Los Angeles Comic-Con.
