In March 2020, things changed for Pitts when CBS headquarters closed due to two positive coronavirus cases, leaving the network unable to broadcast from the site. Pitts received an email informing her that she would start anchoring CBSN, the 24-hour worldwide streaming news service, after finishing her local broadcast in Boston. This sudden shift meant she was now responsible for anchoring national news indefinitely, a significant change from her previous role. Although Pitts had experience anchoring the Boston feed of CBSN since its launch in 2019, going national during a crisis was a whole new challenge. Instead of covering local stories, she found herself interacting with White House correspondents, financial experts on Wall Street, and handling press conferences from Governor Cuomo and President Trump. Despite the upheaval, Pitts viewed the experience positively, even though it completely altered her routine.
- In 2016, Breana joined WBZ Boston (DMA 8) which is owned by CBS and became a reporter with a primary duty of covering traffic and other activities.
